Chester Junior Rifle and Archery League is a 501c that sponsors a 4-H shooting sports club in Chester NH, Rockingham County. 

Junior Rifle and Archery League

The CJRAL program teaches firearm safety and basic rifle, pistol, shotgun, and archery shooting skills.  The Chester Rod and Gun Club JRAL group has traveled to national competitions and locally competes in archery, pistol, and rifle shooting events. The CRGC JRAL also has a mobile shooting sports trailer for archery.  CJRAL is open to the public. 

 

CRGC JRAL provides all required equipment for those just starting out and seeing if this is a fit for your child.  Participants are permitted to use their own equipment contingent upon approval by the program officers.  All ammunition IS supplied by the JRAL club.  All CRGC JRAL instructors and teen leaders are certified through 4-H, NRA, and other approved course instruction. 

 

Participants are recommended to have their own ear and eye protection, which can be purchased at any outdoor activity store or online.  There is limited supply for those that cannot afford their own. 

 

Boys and girls ages 8-18 are welcome to join our program.

Come find us at the Deerfield Fair Grounds October 1-4 2026.

We are located next to the petting barn at the bottom of the big hill next to the new show arena. Look for the signs and trailer.

We Reserve The Right....

To remove anyone from our firing lines for the safety of all.

Possible reasons for removal:

1. The person is not able to physically draw or hold the firearm.

2. The person is not acting safely for themselves and others.

3.  Listening skills are a large part of shooting sports, and if they are not being applied, then we will remove you from the line. 

If these simple rules are not being followed or understood, maybe we are not the club for you.

Our largest support for CJRAL is Chester Rod and Gun Club.  The club donates the space, range safety officers, and sponsorship for our program to run, without them we would not be able to run CJRAL effectively.

Our story

The Chester Rod and Gun Club Junior Rifle and Archery League began because a group of volunteers and parents had a desire to teach children the correct and safe way to handle firearms. With proper instruction, youth will understand the balance of shooting sports education that can last a lifetime. 

Our history

CJRAL has been active since 1970s and is run by Chester Rod and Gun Club and JRAL members' parent volunteers.  Without the continued efforts of both clubs, this youth shooting sports club would not be what it is today.

Chester Junior Rifle and Archery League is a 501© charitable organization registered with the State of NH since 2023. CJRAL supports the 4H JRAL Shooting Sports League of Chester NH.

 

CJRAL Purpose

The Organization (CJRAL) is to ensure the safe and proper continued youth education and participation in various shooting sports organization and related formal activities.

Mission of CJRAL

The Organization (CJRAL) is the active and financial support, in part or whole of educational-athletic organizations that exists to introduce school-age youths properly and safely to the shooting sports and to facilitate their continued involvement in the shooting sports by providing, promoting and perpetuation opportunities to safely, properly, and enjoyably participate and compete in a high-quality, individual or team-based shooting sports.

 

The Organization (CJRAL) also conducts various programs, activities and events at that in themselves educate and train, by active participation under the guidance of trained adult leaders, school aged youths in the proper use, management, maintenance and storage of shooting sports equipment as well as the proper and safe participation in formal and informal shooting sports.

Goals and Rewards

Goals:  With support from our community CJRAL youth leadership is looking to travel to other shooting sports events within state, regionals, and nationals.  We are also looking to travel to agricultural fairs for presentation and educational speaking about our sport.  There are conferences that happen in the 4H world that the youth leadership would like to attend with your support too. 

 

The Rewards:  The youth at CJRAL are awarded with confidence, leadership, team building, and life skills that are great building blocks for us to take into life and our community.
