Frequently asked questions

Is this a Drop off Club?

NO! Anyone under the age of 16, needs to have parent on site.  This is as much their club as the parents, both are learning skills that are for a lifetime. 

Do we need to own a firearm or bow to join?

No, you do not need to own a firearm or bow to join the club. We have rifles, bows, and ammo for your child to learn on.  These are not taken off site and belong to the CJRAL 503c3. 

What is the Cost?

Current cost is $30.00 per child per season.  Right now, we only accept CASH OR CHECK. OR STRIPE.  

What age can my kid join the CJRAL?

We take kids age 8 to 18.

Do I have to go to every meeting?

No, we do not require you to go to every meeting we understand that you have other plans. 

Where can I buy eye and ear protection?

Bass Pro, Walmart, Target, Amazon, or other online stores that sell shooting sport equipment. 

Do I have to be in the safety meeting with my child?

Yes, CJRAL finds that having both the child and parent be aware of the safety of firearms a cohesive understanding of this sport. 

Can my child just do archery and/or rifle?

Yes, BUT CJRAL encouraged to try all that is offered.  Sometimes it just takes being shown in a different and safe environment to set life goals.

Why do we have to fill out all this paperwork?

Chester Rod and Gun Club supports the CJRAL club and with that we were asked to have CJRAL members sign their release forms along with our own. 

So yes, all the forms are Necessary. 

Is my NRA Marksmen target graded the same day?

Your marksmen NRA target will be graded after 11am that day and awards will be handed out at the awards banquet. 

Where is the Pit?

The pit is what is referred to as outdoor shooting range.  When we have large events or activities or join in CRGC shoots you will need to go begone the gate at the parking lot and drive to parking area near the stated bay. 

What to wear?

CJRAL asks that all youth dress in closed toe shoes, pants/shorts (NO BUTTCHEEKS), and shirts that do not allow for brass to fall into your clothes, and a ball cap. 

Are Name Tags Used?

Yes, first name, last initial are on all name tags with youth shooting information and are required to be worn by all participants.

Return to the green frog bin after each meeting.

Will the same equipment be available every time?

All the rifles, pistols, bows and shotguns are set up similar and available to all participates. The same equipment may not be available due to being used by another participate or if it is out for maintenance.

Are drinks and snacks available?

There is a water cooler for drinking and a soda machine for cost in the clubhouse. Snacks are not available. Participates can bring their own drinks and snacks but cannot eat or drink when on the shooting line.

Where can I buy the Club Gear Wear?

You must be a due paid member to access the Members Only area and click on the gear button. 

Washing Hands?

Washing hands after handling firearms and ammo in COLD & soapy water will help remove lead from your hands. 

What time does the meetings run?

Regular meetings run from 9am to 1pm. 9-11 is archery and Rilfe/Pistol and 11-1pm is specialized classes, special preparation for competitions and individual instruction. 

What should I expect at the first meeting of the season?

First meeting of the season there a lot of information shared about the club and a time for parents to ask those questions that this website has not answered. There is safety briefing for ALL new and returning members AND their Parents. Instructors will be introduced and we will talk about what teen leadership is. 

Why do the youth membership need to volunteer hours?

When youth show up to events or fundraisers, other youth see that other youth their age is enjoying an activity and want to join in.  Adults like to see youth being active in the community and why not bring that service back to being a standard, 

Build your village it can be a great one!

When to sign up for 4-H ?

Signing up for 4-H for the being of the season is done after October 1st of every year. That is a 4-H thing, not CJRAL. 

Can I come anytime during meeting time?

Yes, but at the start of each meeting we give out information that is shared to the membership, and you are not left out of the loop.

Why does CJRAL ask for Volunteer help?

This club runs on volunteers and the youth leadership without it there would not be a shooting sports club. 

How big is CJRAL?

Chester Junior Rifle and Archery League is one of the largest shooting sports clubs in the region avg. 100-150 youth and an average 30-60 youth at each meeting.
