
Range Rules and Commands
Range rules and Commands are instructions given to shooters to maintain safety on the firing ranges, be it archery or firearms, indoors and outdoors.
Range Commands
The Line is HOT!
Shooters to the Line
You may pick up your bow/firearm
Are you ready? Raise your hand?
You may fire (one shot or when ready)
When you are done, return your bow/firearm to start
The Line is COLD!
You may retrieve your arrows or target.
Archery
Wearing eye protection is required at all times of shooting.
Make sure that the bow is pointing down range or in a safe direction at all times.
Be sure of your target and what is beyond it.
No shooting without an arrow, which is called dryfiring.
Do not knock an arrow unless you are directed to or are ready to shoot.
No loose clothing, loose hair, and must wear closed-toe shoes.


Firearms
All firearms must be cased at all times going to and from the ranges, and the outside of the case must be marked which way of the muzzle.
Make sure that the muzzle is pointing down range or in a safe direction at all times.
Always treat the firearm as if it were loaded.
Always keep fingers away from the trigger unless directed to do so or ready to fire.
Be sure of your target and what is beyond it.
If the firearm fails to fire, alert an instructor.
Wearing eye and ear protection is required at all times while on the shooting ranges.
Wearing a ballcap is recommended along with no loose clothing or hair and closed-toed shoes.

All firearm or archery cases and all personal items should be marked with the name and contact information. Personal arrows should be marked with the name and contact information.
